More on Math!

I know there are many of you who would like to know more about what we are learning in math. To avoid confusion or frustration, here is a link to some great videos on Khan Academy that explain what we're doing for multiplication - especially the area model. Let me know if you have any questions or would like any other resources! Thank you!

Scholastic Club

Our Class is Participating in the Scholastic Book Club

The class code is NYKB8

If you have not heard of Scholastic book club before, here is information about it! Basically, if you're wanting to buy your child books, (and I know many of your children LOVE to read) this is a great way to do it in a way that will benefit both you, your child, and the classroom.

Pros:
- Scholastic has great prices for books! Each month there are book deals and there are always books for $3 or less.
- Each purchase earns points for the classroom so that we can get even more books!
- You can order online or by flier (coming soon)
- Monthly flyers feature fun FREE gifts for your child just for ordering (stickers, posters, bookmarks, key chains, etc.)

1 Con:
- Waiting for books to ship (which can take up to 1-2 weeks)

For more information, follow the link to the scholastic website!

This week we will be learning about Homophones!

Here is a great website that has games and activities that you can practice at home!

Disclosure Statement

I just wanted to say thank you for a great first week! I'm thrilled to work with such a great group of kids and It's wonderful to have such a supporting group of parents! Thank you so much to all of you who brought class donations! Also, thank you to those of you who have sent me back my letter information paper! If you have not yet, no worries - please turn it in at your leisure.

I apologize for the mass of paperwork that has been sent out this year. With every new year comes the dreaded packets of information and signatures! I assure you that this is the last one from me: I have sent out a Disclosure Statement that discusses classroom management and many other topics concerning this year and what to expect. (This is the paper that was handed out during Back to School Night) I've sent home a copy to each of you. Please read it and send back the portion with your signature so that I know you read it. If you did not get a copy, I have many extra so please let me know if you need one.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

A Little Bit About Me:

My name is Lindsay Speer and I have the privilege of being your superhero's 4th grade teacher! I am so excited for this year!

Just a little bit about me:
This is my first year teaching as a BYU Intern and I cannot express how honored I am to be in such a great community here at Rose Creek Elementary.
I was born and raised in Ramona (San Diego), California and I come from a family of 8 kids where I am the youngest. I love reading, bowling, hiking, games, spending time with family (especially my nieces and nephews) and of course, TEACHING! My goal this year is to do everything I can to help your child to succeed.
